Stuart D. Hayes
Mr. Stuart D. Hayes, age 80, died Wednesday morning, October 4, 2006 at his home in Broadalbin with his family at his side.
Born in Amsterdam October 15, 1925, Stuart was the son of James and Jennie Pettit Hayes. After graduating from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was awarded 6 battle stars while serving in the Pacific during WW II.
Stuart attended the Amsterdam School of Commerce and was later employed for 38 years at the former Mohasco Corp.?He was also employed as assistant to the president of Noteworthy.
In 1959, he was appointed to the Broadalbin Village Planning Board and served as chairman in 1960. He was a Village Trustee from 1966-1969, served on the Village Board of Appeals from 1960-1965, and was appointed to the Broadalbin Town Planning Board in 1969, serving as chairman from 1979 until 2003.
In the 1960s, Stuart organized the Church Basketball League (serving as president for 3 years), organized the PTO Bowling League for school children, and was active in Little League and other youth programs. In the 1970s, he was the ?Voice of Broadalbin? at high school football games.
Stuart was a member of the Broadalbin Ambulance Corps, serving as president for a time and on the board of directors for several years. He organized the Broadalbin Kennyetto Historical Society, acting as president for five years.
Together with his wife, Earleen, he operated the Depot, an antique and gift shop, for over twenty years at the old railroad station on Railroad Street in Broadalbin. He co-chaired the village?s 75th anniversary celebration. He aided in the design and construction of the new Broadalbin Town Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Earleen, whom he married in 1948; one son, Rev. Stuart D. Hayes Jr.; a grandson, Jordan; two granddaughters, Rachel and Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.
Stuart?s church affiliations were with St. Ann?s of Amsterdam, the Broadalbin Methodist and most recently with the First Presbyterian Church of Broadalbin. He was a 40-year member of the Masons.??
Viewing hours will be Saturday from 1-4 p.m. at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main Street, in Broadalbin. On Sunday, a private funeral service with close friends and family will be held at Stuart?s home, 85 North Main Street. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps., P.O. Box 23, Broadalbin, NY 12025.

Charlotte Spencer Stevenson, 91, a former dietician and home extension agent, died of complications from pneumonia Jan. 14 at the Friends House Nursing Home in Sandy Spring, where she had lived since 1980.
Ms. Stevenson was a native of Jasper, N.Y., and a graduate of Cornell University, where she also received a master's degree in nutrition.
After working as a dietician in New Jersey and New York, she became the state nutritionist for Delaware in the early 1940s. She worked later as a home extension agent in Mount Holly, N.J., and as a school lunch supervisor for the Burlington, N.J., school system.
A longtime member of the Religious Society of Friends, she began attending the Friends Meeting in Washington when she moved to the Washington area in 1977. She volunteered as a visitor to prisons and helped found a Friends Meeting at the Friends House Nursing Home.
Her interests included bird-watching, traveling and family genealogy.
Her marriages to Gerald F. Hurley and Halsey B. Stevenson ended in divorce.
Survivors include two sons from her first marriage, Gerald Hurley of Silver Spring and Charles Hurley of Washington; a stepson, Russell Stevenson of Washington; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Wynantskill Barbara Williamson Maycock, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease fell asleep on Monday November 19, 2001 at home surrounded by her daughter Karen and husband Ted. Barbara Williamson Maycock, 75, of 14 Gardner Road in Wynantskill and formerly of Watervliet entered into rest after a long illness with Alzheimer's disease. Born October 2,1926, she was the daughter of the late Laura and Hugh Williamson and devoted wife for 54 years of Thomas (Ted) E. Maycock Jr. formerly of Cohoes.
Barbara was educated and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1944 and married in 1947. She worked for National Bank of Watervliet and Tek-Hughes in Watervliet and the United States Post Office during the Christmas rush. After giving birth to two beautiful daughters, she was a homemaker.
She was a member of the North Greenbush Seniors, the Christian Endeavor, a Brownie Leader and a volunteer for many years at Samaritan Hospital. She is a member of the First Reformed Church in Wynantskill but attends St. Timothy's Lutheran Church.
She has two daughters Karen Ann Maycock of Wynantskill and Bonnie Carson of Troy; three sisters Beatrice Gray of Defreestville, Shirley Wilson of Ballston Lake and Ruth Larkin of Lincolnshire, IL; two grandchildren; a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one cherished granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00PM from St. Timothy's Lutheran Church 470 Winter Street Extension North Greenbush with Rev. Lee Dyer, Pastor, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Friday from 4-8pm. Interment Eagle Mills Cemetery in Eagle Mills.
In lieu of flowers those who wish may send donations to St. Timothy's Church 470 Winter Street Extension, Troy, NY 12180 for the building fund or the Alzheimer's Association, 85 Watervliet Avenue, Albany, NY 12206-2083.
