Mary Gates married an unknown person circa 15 October 1629 at Coney Weston, Suffolk, England; Edward Harrison noted that either this Mary Gates or her younger sister Mary born about 1609 married John Stidman in Coney Weston.¹

     Rose Wright was born BEF 25 FEB 1566/67 at Coney Weston, Suffolk, England.¹ She was the daughter of Martin Wright and Elizabeth (?) Rose Wright was baptized between 25 February 1566 and 1567 at Coney Weston, Suffolk, England.¹ She married Eustace Gates on 4 March 1592/93 at Coney Weston, Suffolk, England.¹ Rose Wright died circa 23 July 1635 at Hingham, Norfolk, England.¹ She was buried on 25 July 1635 at Hingham, Norfolk, England.¹

     Simon Gates was born in 1645 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA; Radasch supplied birth year of 1645.^1,2 He was the son of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Simon Gates was baptized on 3 May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹ He married an unknown person circa November 1670 at Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA; Torrey indicated their first child was born in 1671 and that they lived in Cambridge, Lancaster and Boston.^1,3 He died on 26 August 1692 at Boston (Muddy River), Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA; Per Torrey he died intestate in the part of Boston, MA, called Muddy River, now Brookline, MA. Radasch gave death as 21 April 1693 in Brockton, MA as did Charles Otis Gates in his Genealogy of the Stephen Gates family. Torrey supplied the 26 Aug 1692 date.^4,5
     He Per Torrey Simon Gates was a soldier in King Philip's War. In 1735 his son, Jonathan Gates, was granted land in Narragansett Township on account of his father's service in the war (see v. 16, p. 145, April 1862). On 9 Nov 1670 he was sued by John Woods of Marlborough, MA for breaking a marriage contract with his daughter Frances. In his suit against Simon Gates, Woods stated that 'he hath contracted with another to the great wrong of said Frances.'

After his father's death Simon and his mother received the place in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

     Ann Veare was born circa 1603 at England; Per Torrey Ann Veare Gates was deposed in Middlesex County, Mass., Court, 12 June 1673, aged about seventy years, from which it appears that she was born in or about 1603. It is believed that Stephen Gates was born probably in or near Norwich Co., England about 1600.¹ She married Stephen Gates, son of Eustace Gates and Rose Wright, on 5 May 1628 at Hingham, Norfolk, England.^2,3,4 Ann Veare married an unknown person on 18 April 1663; Marriage contract dated 18 April 1682.^5,6,3 She died on 19 February 1682 at Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA; Marlboro, Massachusetts records indicated she died February 5 instead of February 19, 1682/3 as do Stow records..⁷

     Elizabeth Gates was born circa 1630 at Norfolk, England.¹ She was the daughter of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Elizabeth Gates married an unknown person on 29 November 1649 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.^2,3 She died on 3 August 1704 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹

     Stephen Gates was born circa 1634 at Norfolk, England; Gates Genealogy estimated birth of Stephen at 1640.^1,2 He was the son of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Stephen Gates married an unknown person circa 1664; Sarah and Stephen had children Stephen, Simon, Thomas, Isaac, Nathaniel, Sarah, Rebecca and Daniel between 1665 and 1685.² He died circa 9 July 1707 at Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.^3,4,2
     He Per Torrey Steven came to New England with his parents in 1638. After he became of age he resided in Lancaster, Cambridge, Boston, Marlborough and Stow, MA. he deposed in 1678, aged 44 years, and in 1691, aged 57 years. His will dated in Stow 5 Sep 1701 was proved 15 Sept 1707. He was an early proprietor at Preston, Connecticut where in 1898 descendants were still found. He lived at Stow, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA.⁵

     She In January 1656/7 Mary disputed in church some statements which had been made by the Rev. Joseph Rowlandson, minister in Lancaster.

     Thomas Gates was born in 1642 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹ He was the son of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Thomas Gates was baptized on 3 May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.^2,3 He married an unknown person on 6 July 1670 at Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts, USA; The Gates Genealogy did not have Mary in their list of children.⁴ He died on 10 August 1726 at Preston, New London, Connecticut, USA.^4,5
     He lived in 1703 at Norwich/Preston, New London, Connecticut, USA.⁶

     Isaac Gates was born before 3 May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹ He was baptized on 3 May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.² He was the son of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Isaac Gates died on 3 September 1651.³

     Rebecca Gates was born before May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. She was the daughter of Stephen Gates and Ann Veare. Rebecca Gates was baptized on 3 May 1646 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹ She died in January 1650 at Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.¹

     Martin Wright married Elizabeth (?) circa 1560.¹ Martin Wright died circa 8 April 1592 at Coney Weston, Suffolk, England.¹

     George Weeks was born circa 1596.¹ He married Jane Clapp, daughter of William Clapp and Johan Channon, circa 1627.² George Weeks died in 1650.¹

     Prudence Clapp was born circa 1606.² She was the daughter of Nicholas Clapp. Prudence Clapp married Edward Clapp, son of William Clapp and Johan Channon, circa 1632.¹

     Susan Cockeral married Edward Clapp, son of William Clapp and Johan Channon, circa 1655 at Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA.

     Nicholas Clapp Jr. was born circa 1612.² He was the son of Nicholas Clapp. Nicholas Clapp Jr. married Sarah Clapp, daughter of William Clapp and Johan Channon, in 1636.^3,1 Nicholas Clapp Jr. died on 24 November 1679 at Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA.²

     Elizabeth (?) married Nicholas Clapp, son of Richard Clapp and Christian (?), circa 1602. Elizabeth (?) died on 24 March 1631 at Venn Ottery, Devonshire, England.¹

     William Channon died circa 3 April 1567.¹

     Alice (?) died after 3 April 1567.¹

     Mary Cooke married Aaron Cooke, son of Aaron Cooke and Elizabeth Charde, in 1637; See note re wives of Aaron Cooke. Many sources attibute a marriage to Joane Ford, his step-sister, however this has been disputed and I have not entered this marriage in his record.¹ Mary Cooke died between 1645 and 1650.

     Joan Denslow was baptized on 29 September 1614 at Netherbury, Dorset, England.² She was the daughter of Nicholas Denslow and Elizabeth Doling. Joan Denslow married Aaron Cooke, son of Aaron Cooke and Elizabeth Charde, circa 1648 at Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut, USA. Joan Denslow died in April 1676 at age 61.¹

     Elizabeth Nash married Aaron Cooke, son of Aaron Cooke and Elizabeth Charde, on 2 December 1676 at New Haven, New Haven, Connecticut, USA.

     Rebecca Foote married Aaron Cooke, son of Aaron Cooke and Elizabeth Charde, on 2 October 1688.¹

John Strong married Margery Deane circa 1632 at England.² John Strong married Abigail Ford, daughter of Thomas Ford and Elizabeth Charde, on 30 December 1636 at Dorchester, Suffolk, Massachusetts, USA.¹ John Strong died on 14 April 1699 at Northampton, Hampshire, Massachusetts, USA.²

     Samuel Vassall was born on 5 June 1586 at Ratcliffe, Devonshire, England.^1,2 He was the son of Alderman John Vassall and Anna Russell. Samuel Vassall married Frances Cartwright, daughter of Abraham Cartwright and Joan Wade, in 1612 at St. George, Southwick, London, England.² Samuel Vassall died circa September 1667.³

     Frances Cartwright was the daughter of Abraham Cartwright and Joan Wade. Frances Cartwright married Samuel Vassall, son of Alderman John Vassall and Anna Russell, in 1612 at St. George, Southwick, London, England.¹

     Abraham Cartwright married Joan Wade, daughter of William Wade.

     Joan Wade was the daughter of William Wade. Joan Wade married Abraham Cartwright.

     Alderman John Vassall was the son of John Vassall. Alderman John Vassall married Anne Hewes on 25 September 1569 at Stepney, England.² Alderman John Vassall married Anna Russell on 4 September 1580 at Stepney, England.² Alderman John Vassall married Judith Borough on 27 March 1594 at Stepney, England.² Alderman John Vassall died circa May 1637.¹
