Graham of North Vernon, and Cheryl A. Creech of Deputy; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, on April 24, 1988; sons Eugene Galyen and John Galyen; a granddaughter, Julie Marie Creech; and a brother Lawrence Poore.

    Funeral for John R. Galyen, 59, of Timbercrest Drive will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street, with the Rev. Charles Coleman officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and noon until service time Tuesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to St. Vincent Hospital's Cardiac Care Unit.

    Mr. Galyen died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

    He was retired from Cummins Engine Co. and was employed at CAD CAM. He was also a member of Community Church of Columbus and was an avid rose gardener.

    Mr. Galyen was born in Jennings County Aug. 17, 1939, the son of the late Forrest Galyen and Mary Elkins Galyen of North Vernon. He married Irma F. Davis July 11, 1959, and she survives.

    Other survivors include daughters, Teresa Smith, Becky Rodgers and Mary Willoughby, all of Columbus; five granddaughters; a great-grandson; three brothers and three sisters and a grandmother, Myrtle Tomlinson of North Vernon.

    He was preceded in death by a brother.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable farming and family activities.
    Mr. Galyen married the former Geneva Sandlin on June 2, 1950, and she survives. Also surviving are four children, Carolyn Sue (husband James) Barnett of Tucson, Ariz., Robert (wife Susan) Galyen, Jr. of Noblesville, Jeffrey (wife Kimberly) Galyen of New Castle and Teresa (husband Darron) Dulin of Shirley; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Michael, Sara and Matthew Galyen and Nelson Dulin; and two sisters, Betty Johnson of Prentice, Wis. and Ethel Robbins of North Vernon.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Galyen was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Eugene, Jr. and a sister, Mary Hartwell.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 17, 10:30 a.m., at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, New Castle, with the Rev. Jack Hannum officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.

    Mr. Galyen was born in Jennings County Aug. 17, 1939, the son of the late Forrest Galyen and Mary Elkins Galyen of North Vernon. He married Irma F. Davis July 11, 1959, and she survives.

    Other survivors include daughters, Teresa Smith, Becky Rodgers and Mary Willoughby, all of Columbus; five granddaughters; a great-grandson; three brothers and three sisters and a grandmother, Myrtle Tomlinson of North Vernon.

    He was preceded in death by a brother.
