The latter seems the most likely, because no record of a death of this Francis Joseph ever shows up anywhere, he does not appear in another Shaw family in the city, and it would be the second child named Francis born to David, the first still living at this time.

     James Shaw According to Nora Conway, a neighbor from Garrow Street, she recalls that there was a brother called "Big Jim," who ran away with the circus one year that it visited Auburn. He was not heard from again. A newspaper account of one James Shaw, circus employee in Syracuse was arrested for stealing medication from the circus. He was "Ran away with circus."

     Lawrence James Shaw was christened in 1861 at Holy Family Church, Auburn, Cayuga, New York.1 He was born on 20 July 1861 at Cayuga, Cayuga, New York.1 He was the son of David J. Shaw and Anna Hanour Souhan. Lawrence James Shaw married Elizabeth Campion, daughter of James Campion and Ellen Nolan, on 26 October 1892 at St.Mary's Church, Auburn, Cayuga, New York.2 Lawrence James Shaw married Margaret Phelan, daughter of Patrick Phelan and Katherine Dempsey, on 15 June 1898 at St. Mary's Church, Auburn, Cayuga, New York.2 Lawrence James Shaw died on 25 November 1941 at Auburn, Cayuga, New York, at age 80; Natural causes3he was buried on 29 November 1941 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming, Cayuga, New York.4
     Lawrence James Shaw was Coachman/Driver for the Wadsworth Family who lived at 210 Genesee St. As Lawrence Vincent Shaw, his grandson remembers going to visit him and seeing him killing and plucking feathers from chickens, he obviously had other tasks that he performed for the family besides just being their driver. He took a path to work and back each day that involved a short-cut through Fort Hill Cemetery. He was also active in politics and was a City Councilman for the ninth ward.
