On May 17, 1941 he married Mary Harbottle Shaw. A decorated United States Army Veteran of World War II, he received the Purple heart and the Combat Infantry Badge.

    Mr. Shaw retired from Finger Lakes Wholesale as a salesman. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and the Knights of Columbus, Council 207 He and his family operated Shaw's Variety Store from 1956-1966.

    He is survived by his wife, Mary F. Shaw of Auburn; four sons, James jF. Shaw and his wife Daria of Rochester, William E. Shaw and his wife,Sherry of Auburn Leo M. Shaw of Albany and Dr. John R. Shaw of Auburn; one daughter-in-law, Antoiniette Shaw of Cortland, two sisters, Alice Shaw of Auburn and Ellen Shaw Evans of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Richard (Lee), Brandon, Tricia, Shannon, Eric, Mark (Elizabeth) and Stephanie Shaw, Christine (Larry) DiGiovannini; three great grandchildfren, Carrie and Emma Sahw and Jack DiGiovanni, several neices nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Richard Shaw in 1978.

    Caloling hous will be from 4 to 7 pm today, July 26, at Farrell's Funeral Service Inc. 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian Burial iwll be celelbrated at 10 am Saturday, July 27 in jJSt. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Louis Vasile, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Church as the celebrant Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 356 N. (Sherry) Shaw, Leo M. Shaw, John R. Shaw, Frederick M. (Laurie) Evans and Timothy R. (Kathy) Evans; 17 great nieces and nephews, three great-grandnieces and nephews, several cousins and her may friends.

    She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Raynold W. Shaw, on July 24, 2002, a nephew, Richard Shaw, and brother-in-law, Richard Evans.

    A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am Monday, Sep. 30, in St Alphonsus Church, Auburn. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calloing hours will be held 4 to 7 pm Sunday at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Church, 95 Genesee St., Auburn NY.

She was predeceased by her parents, maternal grandparents, William and Alice Shaw, and paternal parents, William and Alice Nugent. Prayer services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at Farrell"s Funeral Service, Inc. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:15 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Road in Auburn.
