     A. D. GOULD, editor and proprietor of the Eldred Eagle, was born at . Utica, N. Y., July 15, 1856, a son of C. B. and Mary (Scranton) Gould. His maternal grandfather, Lyman Scranton, was a native of Utica, an architect and builder, and with John Devereaux built the original St. Bonaventure College in Allegany, Cattaraugas Co., N. Y. A. D. Gould was reared in Utica, Homer and Binghamton, N. Y., and Emporium, Penn., and was educated at the academies of Homer and Franklinville, N. Y. In the spring of 1876 he began the study of law with Newton & Green, of Emporium, Penn., at which he continued until the fan of 1877. Prior to that he learned the printer's trade with his father, and on account of the latter being burned out he was compelled to resume the printing business. He started a job-office in Tarport in the spring of 1878. The same year Eldred came into prominence as an oil center, and in the summer of that year he removed to that point, and established the Eldred Eagle, which he has since successfully conducted. He married, September 4, 1883, Emma, daughter of John D. Schwab, of Utica, N. Y., and they have one son, Carl D. Mr. Gould is a member of the Masonic fraternity and Knights of Pythias. Politically he is a Republican.

He has not, she says, contributed to her support since then and last week she applied for an absolute divorce with the right to have custody of their two children who are 8 and 6 years of age. The case was heard in the Supreme Court in Canestota and Mrs. Smith was granted a divorce and also awarded the children.

    Mrs. George Martin has been granted an absolute divorce from her husband who was ordered to pay $200 a year during her life and also the costs of the action of $123.84.

    Death Result of Injuries
    Mrs. William D. Eichmeyer was injuired at Sylvan Beach Hotel
    Oneida, Nov. 27, Lena S. Eichmeyer wife of William D. Eichmeyer No. 114 Mary St., Utica, died at a Utica hospital at 7 o'clock last evening. On the 9th of last August she was on the roof of the veranda of the Forest Home Hotel at Sylvan Beach when the veranda collapsed and seriously injured a number of persons who were either on or beneath the roof. Mrs. Eichmeyer was among those most seriously injured. In falling from the roof of the veranda one of her limbs was crushed between the roof and a tree between which the veranda fell. She was taken to a hospital in Utica where she had been under treatment. Her death is said to have been the result of injuries sustained.
