Doris has four brothers, Robert Van Horn, Alonzo Van Horn Jr. (Bunky), Louis Van Horn and John Churchill. Doris was a kind, loving, Christian lady who enjoyed life, including wildlife, flowers and all aspects of the earth and the universe. She was an avid painter and will be sadly missed, but always remembered. A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, in St. Matthew"s Church, 18 Church St., Moravia.   3. [S56] The Citizen Advertiser, Brewster, Everett C. MORAVIA < Everett C. Brewster, 90, of Moravia, died Saturday Feb. 3, 2007, at the Elder Care Home, 8 S. Main St., Moravia, after a recent illness. Mr. Brewster was born Oct. 27, 1916, at the Merrifield farm house in Scipio and was the son of Coral C. and Alma (Redman) Brewster. He was a lifetime resident of New York and a graduate of Union Springs High School. Mr. Brewster served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He held the rank of sergeant in the 28th Infantry Division, Division Headquarters. During his tour he was an aide and driver for Gen. Omar Bradley after the Normandy invasion. He was serving at the Battle of the Bulge where he was captured by the German army at 6 a.m. on Dec. 20, 1944, at Wiltz, Luxembourg, and placed in a German prisoner of war camp Stalag M.-Stammlager XII A until his liberation at the end of the war. He was decorated with the Prisoner of War, Good Conduct, Ruptured Duck and Conspicuous Service medals. Mr. Brewster returned home and married Elizabeth A. (Palmer) Brewster, who predeceased him in 2001. They resided in Poplar Ridge until 1954 when he relocated to his Moravia residence. He was a member of the Poplar Ridge Fire Department and was its chief in the early 1950s. Mr. Brewster"s first employment was at the O.A. Scutt Company in Savanna as a driver. He began employment for the Scutt Company at the age of 13 with his father and returned to work there after the war. He also was employed by Nye-Waite Carpet Co. in Auburn from 1938 to 1942. He was employed by Wheat Brothers where he assisted in the rebuilding of the Stone Mill becoming the plant supervisor. He then became employed by the New York State Bean Shippers Association as a state bean inspector from 1965 until 1990. With his wife he operated the concession stand at the Fillmore Glen State Park from 1966 to 1969. He was best known as the owner of B&B Bike Shop, which he operated at his home from 1968 until 2000. He was also a seasonal state park attendant at Fillmore Glen from 1977 until 1988. Mr. Brewster is survived by his son Edward E. Brewster; Ed#"s wife Penny, his best friend; his daughter, Sandra (Brewster) Perkins; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary E. (Brewster) Myers and her two sons. Calling hours will be held 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. The Rev. Wayne Hampton will officiate the funeral service at the funeral home at 4 p.m. Burial will be held in the spring at the Evergreen Cemetery in Scipioville. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes or the Disabled American Veterans.
