Lori, Yes we are connected. Alice T. Grizzle, married a Ross, is the daughter of Toliver and Sarah Grizzle of Independence Co. Arkansas. There are several other Toliver Grizzle descendants doing posting on the Grizzle genforum site. Toliver was brother or half-brother to my ancestor John Grizzle. Both grew up in Knoxville TN area, in both Knox and Blount counties, served in Civil War, then moved to Arkansas after the war. Toliver might have been in Arkansas before the war. Toliver married Sarah Jane Galyon (sp?) in Knox Co.TN. She died ~1880 and is buried in Center Grove Cem. near Charlotte AR. Toliver remarried ~1895 in Independence CO. to a Charlotte Haney (sp?). Toliver got a Civil War pension, so there is some info in his pension files.
Please give me some more info on your Ross/Grizzle lineage. There was a Dell Ross in Newark AR where I grew up that was of this lineage.

Daniel Galyean

M, b. 14 July 1855, d. 5 March 1928
Daniel Galyean was born on 14 July 1855 at Knox, Tennessee, USA.1 He was the son of Joshua A. Galyean and Nancy Caroline Ford. Daniel Galyean was born on 21 May 1856 at Knox, Tennessee, USA.2 He was born in July 1858.3 He married Ida May Scott on 20 February 1886 at Knox, Tennessee, USA.4 Daniel Galyean died on 5 March 1928 at Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, USA, at age 72.5
Daniel Galyean was also known as Dan Galyon.6 He "Daniel's father, Joshua, died in Andersonville prison during the Civil War. His mother, Nancy, remarried in 1865 to one Joseph, and she gave up her children to the guardianship of one Albert Hendibring (?). Why she did this is not known. Daniel is not evident in the '80 and'10 census data for TN. We know from the Knoxville city directories that Daniel was a harnessmaker. Daniel was in the directories up to 1898 (I (GTG) don't have an 1899 directory) but he is missing from the 1900 directory. Since Ida shows in the 1910 Sndx for Knox Co., TN, it is assumed that Daniel died in 1900 or left town.

Daniel is the only TN Daniel Galyon known from 1870-1900. He was an obvious candidate for the grandfather of Dr. Charles Amos Galyon of Kingston, NY, who thought that his grandfather was named Daniel. However, none of the rest of Dr. Charles' story matches the Daniel/Ida Mae Scott family. Dr. Charles grandmother was a Blanche Arm or Armbruster. It's remotely possible that the above Daniel may have fathered a child out of wedlock, but that is pure speculation. According to Dr. Charles Galyon of Kingston, NY, his grandfather "Daniel" was a bit of a black sheep who "ran out" on Charles' grandmother, Blanche shortly after Dr. Charles' father, Charles Amos, was bornin about 1894. I have seen another occasion when a divorced wife listed herself as a "widow" in the Knoxville city directory. So I guess its not impossible that the above Daniel sired charles Amos out of wedlock sometime around 1894. Dr. Charles' also recounts the story that his grandfather, Daniel left for parts west (e.g. Okla). As of 1/13/1987 Daniel has not shown in the Soundexes for Okla., TX, or AL." - Transcribed from George Tipton Galyon Manuscripts. He appeared on the census of 1870 at Knox, Tennessee, USA; In 1870 Daniel was a 14 yr. old in the household of Arthur & Sallie Bales in Knox Co.4 He appeared on the census of 8 June 1900 at 456 High St., Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee, USA; Galyon, Dan,July 1858, m. 14 yr, TN TN TN Harness Maker

Joshua Edmund Monday

M
Joshua Edmund Monday married Mary C. Johnson on 24 March 1867 at Knox, Tennessee, USA; There are two Mary Galyeans who married in Knox Co. I chose this marriage to be the one of Mary Johnson Galyean because James S. Gallien, 14 is shown to be living with her in the 1870 census and James was a son of Mary and William Galyean, and the age matches correctly for it to be the elder Mary Galyean.1
