M, d. before 1891
     Robert Houston married Mary Irvine. Robert Houston died before 1891.
     He appeared on the census of 1 April 1861 at Erskine, Renfrewshire, Scotland; No evidence this is actually the correct Robert, but there is a John Gooldie living in the same houshold. John Gould is the father of Robert's daughter-in-law, Jane, so this puts a strong suspicion that this may be correct family. Mary's death certificate gives a maiden name of Vaughn. This is very similar to the Irvine given on Joseph's death certificate.1

A likelyhood exists that this may be the first Oliver to purchase property in Cayuga county. It would explain the difference in names of spouses in the two property transfers and, more importantly, offer an explaination of why Hannah Bonker Bunker's parents are listed as Hannah and Oliver Bonker. Elizabeth Bonker1

F, b. 7 September 1795, d. 20 March 1879
Betsy Bonker Bidwell Gravestone
     Elizabeth Bonker was born in September 1794 at New York, New York, USA.2,3 She was born on 7 September 1795 at New York, USA; In the majority of the censuses where "Betsy" Bonker is found, the age corraborates the 1795 year of birth, matching the date from the family Bible.

The place of birth of New York, New York listed on Halsey Stevenson's pedigree chart has no source, but is probably from Mary Elizabeth Stevenson's death record. It gives her mother's place of birth as "NY." As most of the other entries in the Montezuma Vital Records give a city and state, most likely this represents only New York State. However, if the family enumerated in the 1800 census as Oliver Barker or Backer is this family, then the New York, NY locale could be correct.1 She was the daughter of Oliver Bonker and Hannah Unknown.1 Elizabeth Bonker married Halsey Bidwell, son of John Bidwell and Sarah Penfield, on 25 January 1814 at Cayuga, New York, USA.4,5 Elizabeth Bonker died on 20 March 1879 at Cayuga, New York, USA, at age 83.5,6 She was buried at Old Montezuma Cemetery, Montezuma, Cayuga, New York, USA; Bidwell, Betsey E. w of Halsey B.     d. ___________________________________________________________

    William Bonker, son of Oliver and Matilda Bonker, married Amanda Bunyea, daughter of Nehemiah Bunyea and Lucy Converse, in New York about 1831.

    William's parents Oliver and Matilda Bonker were natives of Cayuga County, New York, and lived there all their lives. Oliver and Matilda had eight children: Jonathan, Oliver, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, John, William, Henry, and Mary.

    Amanda's parents Nehemiah Bunyea and Lucy Converse were born and married in Birdport, Addison County, Vermont, where their first three children--William, Salina C., and Salina--were born. (Their other five children--Amanda, Prosper, Lucy, Sally Anne, and Benjamin--were born in New York.) By 1820 they had moved to Galen Township, Seneca County, New York. Subsequent moves took them to Savannah, Wayne County, New York; Elbridge, Onondaga County, New York; White Lake Township, Oakland County, Michigan; Mentz, Cayuga County, New York; and Montezuma, Cayuga County, New York; and then back to White Lake Township, Oakland County, Michigan.

    In 1840 William Bonker and his wife Amanda Bunyea were living in Mentz, Cayuga County, New York, where the first four of their five children were born. (The last child, William, was born in Oakland County, Michigan.) By the time of the 1850 census they were living in White Lake Township, Oakland County, Michigan, where William was a cooper. They had moved to Springfield Township, Oakland County, Michigan by 1860. In the mid 1860s William and Amanda moved to Tuscola County, Michigan, where their all of their children (perhaps with the exception of Eliza Ann) had settled.

    William Bonker and Amanda Bunyea had five known children:

    1) Millicent "Milla" (1830-1896), who married Farley Craw;
    2) Levantia "Ovanda" (1836-1910), who married Solon Cooley;
    3) Eliza Ann (1838-?);
    4) Nehemiah (1842-1915), who married Alice J. Gibbs;
    5) William (1852-?), who married Almira Morse.

    William died on May 7, 1867. After his death, Amanda worked as a domestic servant for the Gilbert Johnson family in Indianfields Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. By 1880 she had moved in with her son and daughter-in-law Nehemiah and Alice (Gibbs) Bonker in Almer Township, Tuscola County, Michigan. She passed away on March 26, 1889.
