  6. [S170] The Auburn Citizen, Dec. 30, 1908, p 3 Surrounded by the grief-stricken members of her family, Mrs. Thomas Kavanagh passed peacefully away about 10:30 this morning at the family home. No. 15 Barber street. For the past three years Mrs. Kavanagh has heroically stfuggled against the ravages of a severe ailment which finally caused her death, but she bore her sufferings most patiently, never complaining, even to the members of her own family, who administered to her very want most tenderly. While her death was not unexpected, nevertheless, it fell with crushing effect upon the family when it came. She was a most thoughtful, tenderhearted woman, posessed of many noble traits of character which endeared her to a large circle of friends. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Katherine Watkins, Mrs. Henry House, Helen, Agnes, and Lillian, and three sons, Michael, Thomas and Henry, and one sister, Mrs. Stephen Burns, all of this city, and to whome will be extended the sympathy of their numerous friends in their afflection. The funeral will take place Saturday morning, January 2, with services at St. Mary's church at 9:20. Burial will be made in the family plot in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mrs. Barrett, who was born in Ireland seventy-four years ago, has been a resident of Shortsville for over fifty years. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary A. Shaw, of this village, one son, Frank, of Waterloo, two sisters, Mrs. Quigley of Rochester, and Mrs. O'Hara of Shortsville, and four grandsons, Edward, Daniel, Frank and John Shaw, all of this village. The funeral will be held at St. Dominick's church Thursday morning, Rev. Father O'Hanlon of Clifton Springs conducting the services.      Catharine Bergin was born circa 1812 at Ireland.1 She was the daughter of William Bergin and Catherine Nowlan. Catharine Bergin married Thomas Shaw, son of Thomas Shaw and Sarah Maher, on 4 March 1843 at Tinryland, Carlow, Ireland.2 Catharine Bergin died on 3 February 1869 at Auburn, Cayuga, New York, USA.3
     Catharine Bergin was also known as Catharine Behin.
